Biden Urges Vigilance: Brands Trump as a Threat to Democracy, Warns Against Re-Election
As his 2024 campaign push begins, President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, has warned Americans on the dangers of re-electing the former republican President, Donald Trump, for a second presidency.
Biden's warning came a day before the third anniversary of the January 6 attack when a violent group of Trump's supporters worked the US Capitol in a bid to keep him in power after his fallout in the 2020 election.
President Biden, who was worried about the future of democracy in the United States, noted that Trump's actions contribute a great threat to the peace and tranquility of the country.
He said,
“Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot,” he said.
“Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future,” Biden said. “Trump’s assault on democracy isn’t just part of his past. It’s what he’s promising for the future.”
Mr Trump, however, labelled the speech "pathetic fear mongering" and called Mr Biden the threat to democracy.
"Biden's record is an unbroken streak of weakness, incompetence, corruption and failure,"
Trump, the current frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, still frequently repeats the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
