Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola Extends Congratulations to Aliko Dangote as the $20 Billion Refinery Commences Production

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my dear friend, @aliko_dangotegcon, as the $20 Billion Dangote Group Refinery, often hailed as the 8th Wonder of the World, officially kicks off production. This monumental achievement includes the world's largest single-train Petroleum Refinery with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, a Polypropylene facility producing 1 million metric tonnes annually, and two colossal Fertilizer Trains capable of producing 3 Million Tonnes of Urea. Beyond being a remarkable industrial milestone, it stands as a testament to the visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence demonstrated by one of Africa's finest patriots.

Having witnessed the inception and realization of this visionary project, I am acquainted with the countless sleepless nights you endured over the past decade to turn this dream into a reality.

This refinery transcends its industrial significance; it represents a beacon of hope for millions of Nigerians and Africans. Moreover, it takes a pioneering stance in championing environmental sustainability. With cutting-edge Carbon capture technologies and storage processes, it aims to capture over 90% of emitted CO2, contributing significantly to the reduction of Well-to-tank carbon emissions from crude oil maritime transportation. This aligns with Nigeria's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

Notably, the refinery demonstrates a commitment to environmental responsibility by recirculating 100% of its water and harnessing the heat generated to produce 50MW of Power. The production of Euro 5, replacing the inferior Euro 5 dumped in Africa for an extended period, is another commendable initiative. The refinery's shipping operations, including 65,000 barrels per day of crude out of Nigeria and 650kbpd in refined products to Nigeria and neighbouring countries, are poised to save 1.5m to 2.5m tons of CO2 emissions.

By fulfilling the nation's requirements for all refined petroleum products, this refinery emerges as a symbol of energy security and independence, acting as a catalyst for a new era of prosperity in our nation and the subcontinent. Its promise of economic transformation resonates not only with Nigerians today but also with the generations to come.
