The Missing Wedding Guest - Episode 1: The Vanishing

The estate was almost too perfect.
Golden vines curled around the arches of Amberlight Manor, a countryside mansion so picturesque it felt fictional. The lawn had been freshly trimmed, fairy lights were being strung along trees, and the air was thick with florals and expectations.
Ada adjusted the strap of her dress and narrowed her eyes at the scene. Weddings weren’t her thing. Especially not this kind of wedding—grand, elite, and dripping with secrets. She was here for one reason only: to stand by her best friend, Teni, the bride.
And maybe, just maybe, to keep an eye on the people smiling too much.
That night, the rehearsal dinner ran late.
Ada found herself seated beside Daniel, the groom’s reclusive cousin, whose idea of small talk was silence. He didn’t touch his wine, and his dark eyes scanned the room like he was expecting something—or someone—to explode.
They spoke only once:
“You don’t seem like the wedding type,” he said, still not looking at her.
“You don’t seem like the breathing type,” she replied.
He smiled—barely—and said nothing else.
The next morning, Chika was missing.
One of the bridesmaids, Teni’s childhood friend. Loud, warm, unpredictable Chika, who never met a party she didn’t dominate or a man she couldn’t flirt into a stammer.
Her bed hadn’t been slept in. Her phone, shoes, and purse were gone. All that remained was a single sheet of torn paper on the windowsill, flapping gently in the breeze.
Ada picked it up.
“I couldn’t do this to you again.”
That was all it said. No name. No signature.
Teni was in tears. The planner wanted to keep things quiet. The groom looked... tense.
The police were called but said it was too early to file a report. “She’s probably just clearing her head,” they said. “Big events can be overwhelming.”
But Ada knew better. Chika didn’t clear her head. She made noise—in heels.
“She wouldn’t just run off,” Ada snapped. “Something’s wrong.”
Daniel stood quietly near the staircase, watching her.
Later, he approached her outside the manor, where she stood chain-drinking coffee.
“You think she’s in trouble,” he said.
“I know she is.”
“And if she left the note herself?”
“Then the real question is—what did she mean by again?”
Daniel didn’t answer. He just handed her something folded in his palm.
A printout of the guest list. Names, room numbers, check-in times.
One had already been crossed out: Chika Abiola – Room 12.
“Let’s find out what happened,” he said, walking away.
Ada stared after him.
This was supposed to be a celebration.
Now it was turning into a hunt.
